Privacy
The short version: this site does not know who you are, and does not try to find out. No accounts, no cookies, no advertising, no trackers.
Counting visits
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see which passages are read and roughly where readers come from. It is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, and does not build a profile of you or follow you between sites. That is why this site needs no cookie banner.
Reading
Pages, pictures, typefaces and search are all served from this site itself — nothing is fetched from advertising or analytics companies. Search runs entirely on your own device; what you type into it never leaves your browser.
Hosting
The site is delivered by Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare briefly processes technical request data (such as your IP address) in its server logs to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We add nothing to that.
Listening
Where a passage has a recording, you will see a listen button. The player itself loads from Spotify only when you choose to press it — from that moment, Spotify's privacy policy applies. If you never press it, nothing loads.
Books and donations
Buying a book takes you to Stripe, our payment processor; your payment details are entered on Stripe's pages under Stripe's privacy policy. We receive only what is needed to post your book. Donations happen on skandavale.org, which has its own privacy notice.
If you choose to receive new passages by email, your address is held by Mailchimp, our email service, and used for nothing else. Every email carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may ask what personal data we hold about you (for most visitors: none), and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Write to us at enquiries@skandavale.org.
